The Latest Guidance for for Parents

COVID-19 Guidance from April 2022

  • Pupils with symptoms of COVID-19 are no longer advised to get a test.

  • Children and young people with mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, or slight cough, who are otherwise well, can continue to attend their education setting.

  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people, where they can. They can go back to school, college or childcare, and resume normal activities when they no longer have a high temperature and they are well enough to attend.

Please see the UKHSA guidance for further information.

Attendance is compulsory for all children.

Please contact the school if you need support or advice.

Messages regarding  welfare and attendance (including late pick ups) should ALWAYS be sent to our Welfare Officer, Mrs Morgan Chiswick

COVID-19 Outbreak Management Plan

This plan is based on the contingency framework for managing local outbreaks of COVID-19 and the schools operational guidance from step 4, provided by the Department for Education (DfE).

We will only implement some, or all, of the measures in this plan in response to recommendations provided by our local authority (LA), director of public health (DsPH), Public Health England (PHE) health protection team or the national government.

It may be necessary to implement these measures in the following circumstances, for example:

  • To help manage a COVID-19 outbreak within the school

Currently, the following thresholds are defined:

  • 5 pupils or staff, who are likely to have mixed closely, test positive for COVID19 within a 10-day period; or
  • 10% of pupils or staff who are likely to have mixed closely test positive for COVID19 within a 10-day period.
  • If COVID-19 infection rates in the community are extremely high, and other measures have failed to reduce transmission
  • As part of a package of measures responding to a ‘variant of concern’ (VoC)

Our Outbreak Management Plan can be accessed through the link below.

Home Learning

In December 2020 the Governing Body agreed our Home Learning Policy. This policy sets out what will happen if children and or staff are not able to attend school due to Covid-19. See the 'Learning Zone' to view the policy and for more details on our remote learning offer.

Clubs and Childcare

Funtime breakfast club and after school provision are running.

COVID Catch Up Grant

Since the reopening in March 2021 attendance, behaviour and engagement of our pupils has again been good. Our community were keen, willing and able to return to school and have responded as well as could be expected to working in bubbles etc. From April 2021 extra-curricular activities in year group bubbles have also been provided.

We prioritised the emotional health and wellbeing of the children and have tried to ensure that the pupils are not made to feel anxious about ‘catching up’. We have focused on developing collaborative working and communication skills as well as having access to more practical activities and using hands on resources. Most importantly we want the children to enjoy their learning, socialise and have some fun!

Generally the children have coped extremely well with being back at school. Initial assessment indicate that the following areas need to be developed in order to recover:

  • Re-establish our sense of community and belonging
  • Support wellbeing and mental health within our community
  • Re-establish behaviours for learning within the school setting
  • Resilience to concentrate for longer periods
  • Resilience to write, especially longer pieces
  • Presentation/handwriting
  • Collaborative working skills
  • Practical activities and hands on use of resources wherever possible
  • Transitions for new academic year need to be supported

Please see below details of how we are using the Covid Catch-up grant.
