Year 6 visit Kenwood

On Wednesday. Victoria Gordon, from English Heritage, delivered an engaging talk, about the importance of Lord Mansfield, his great niece Dido Belle and its complicated link to slavery in Georgian times. The children had the opportunity to look at a range of paintings depicting the family and also explore the grounds. With a focus on Black History Month, stereotypes of that time were considered and how Dido Belle’s presence impacted her uncle's Justice of the King's Bench. They enjoyed challenging the ethics of the time and were passionate about the mansion house, asking lots of interesting questions.

"I enjoyed looking at all of the buildings and grassy areas. I learnt that Kenwood House has a lot of important history behind it." - Idris, 6G

"I really enjoyed looking at all the paintings,. especially the one of Dido Bell, because they were very old and it was fascinating to see them." - Yasir, 6G
