On Wednesday, 49 children from Years 3-6 represented our school at the Barnet Athletics competition at Stone X Stadium. GSJS were representing the country Germany as part of the event.

The field events were in the morning (javelin, shotput, long jump and speed bounce) and the track events (relays and sprints) were in the afternoon. The children were extremely well-behaved and showed great resilience and determination throughout the day.

Garden Suburb Junior School came first in the field events out of sixteen other local schools. Our children should be very proud of their achievements!

‘We were extremely happy to win one of the events at the athletics championships. It was a very exciting day for us all’, said Sawyer and Carmel – two of the Year 6 children who competed at this event.
